Please enquire within the schools for vacancies (see list of schools in the table below).

Governor vacancies in which a member of the public can apply for are usually in the following roles:

  • Co-opted or Community Governor
  • Local Authority Governor 
  • Foundation Governor (in CE and RC schools)
  • Trustee Roles in Academies 

Diocese of Manchester (CE) vacancy recruitment information

The Manchester Diocese Board of Education welcomes competent and skilled people of all denominations, faiths or none, to apply to be a Foundation Governor on the understanding that they sign up to the Commitment to the Christian Foundation of the school.

Governor vacancies that are filled within the schools and not made available to the public:

  • Parent Governor/Trustee - You must be a parent/carer of a child at the school you wish to be nominated at. Parent Governor elections will usually take place if more than one nominee applies for the vacancy. 
  • Staff Governor/Trustee - You must be a staff member/employee of the school you wish to be nominated at. Staff Governor elections will usually take place if more than one nominee applies for the vacancy.
